Works at Schuman Roundabout: New phases from 21 October 2024

PUBLISHED ON 17/10/2024

As you will notice on your walks around the area, the redevelopment of Schuman Roundabout is progressing. A series of new phases in the project will start in the coming weeks. These works will change the flow of vehicles and people in the streets adjoining Schuman, so please make sure that you and your colleagues are up to date!

Ongoing works

Rue de la Loi (latérale): The works on the Esplanade between the Justus Lipsius building and the Berlaymont will continue for several months. Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained.

Modified works

Petite Rue de la Loi: From 23 October, works will shift to the zones directly along the façades of the buildings. Pedestrian and cyclist traffic will pass through the middle of the road and access to garages on Petite Rue de la Loi will be restricted. From mid-December, pedestrians and cyclists will again move along the building façades while street furniture in the central area is finalised. The works on Petite Rue de la Loi should be complete in February 2025. More info and maps: in French in Dutch.

New works

Avenue d’Auderghem: From 21 October works will begin on the area as far as Rue Breydel. These works to redevelop the zone as a mixed-use area will be carried out in three phases: the even-numbered side of the road, the odd-numbered side, and then the centre. Pedestrian access to all buildings will be guaranteed throughout the works, and cyclists will be able to pass along secure pathways. Motor vehicles will not be able to pass or access garages at any time during the works, which are estimated to last until March 2025. More info and maps: in Frenchin Dutch.

Avenue de Cortenberg: From 21 October, Brussels Mobility will begin redevelopment works on the area as far as Rue Le Corrège. Cars will only be able to pass in the direction of Schuman (as will be the case permanently after the works). Pedestrian access to all buildings will be guaranteed throughout the works, and cyclists will be able to pass along secure pathways. More info and maps in French and Dutch.
